What happens when the pieces

I looked like I was playing big.
The truth? I was still hiding.

For years, I was the business behind the boys. Jack and Mark were on the stage. I was behind the scenes, building and strategizing and helping big things happen. I was good at it, and comfortable there.

I had a New York Times bestseller and barely talked about it. I was invited to speak and kept finding reasons not to. I knew how to help other people use their voices. I just wasn’t doing it for myself.

Then my mother’s cancer came back. Near the end of her life, she said something I’ll never forget:
